Welcome to the Home page of the LadyBugs Foundation!

Nope, we aren't about those cute little red and black bugs, we do empowerment and educational programs for Women with Bleeding Disorders (WwBDs).

But did you know that the ladybug, the Asian beetle that now lives extensively in the U.S., when it's stressed does something called... "reflex bleeding" from its leg joints? It does that to deter a predator.  And since WwBDs sometimes bleed into our leg joints, we thought that coincidence was enough to justify our name!

Also, in many cultures, the ladybug is considered a symbol of luck and good fortune. Who doesn't need more of those in their life?!

Thanks for visiting us, and please come back soon!

FVII Retreat returns for 2nd consecutive year!

Factor VII deficiency is the most prevalent of rare bleeding disorders, but with an incidence of 1:500,000, very few resources exist to educate those who live with it.

LadyBugs Foundation and Comprehensive Health Education Services have teamed up once again to present the second, consecutive retreat for those affected by FVII.  Funded by an educational grant from Novo Nordisk.

This year's FVII Retreat will be held at the Sheraton Westport Chalet in St. Louis, Missouri the weekend of Friday, June 14th thru Sunday, the 16th.  Participants can expect educational sessions about FVII deficiency, along with opportunities to network with other individuals with FVII deficiency.  Learn more...

They Said It Would Never Happen!

When I was diagnosed with hereditary FVII Deficiency (FVIId), I began dreaming of a way to unite all people who have this disorder. But most of the people I talked to said it would never happen. "You'll never get enough interest." "There aren't enough people who have it." and, "You'll never get funding.”, were just a few of the negative comments I heard over and over.  Read more...
